A Prayer Concerning Contentment

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” -1 Timothy 6:6

My faithful Father, you who whisper in darkest of moments, “I’m here.” In my anxiety of searching and questioning who will take care of me? How will I get things done? It’s always been You. You saw me before air filled my lungs, and you will hold me when the air of this world will fade from them. My heart is with you forever, God. You have breathed Your living Spirit into me, you have placed in this dust a well spring of living water that quenches the thirst of death.
I have you, God. Forgive me for not being content with you. For not believing you will take care of all of my needs, you will send help. You will not leave me in darkness and sorrow. You shine your light and joy fills my eyes to see your presence and forgiveness.
Lord, not only let me be content but godly in my words and deeds, my actions and decisions. I will count it my richest gain. Change my desires and help me to remember to renew my mind, taking thoughts captive and make them bow to you.
I reject to react to negativity, but will sow in the Spirit things that produce good.
Thank you for loving me Jesus. For bearing my shame and sin on the cross. I return to You, my first love, over and over again. To your name and glory and kingdom I ask this prayer, Amen.
