A Prayer for My Heart

God whose heart beats in mine, a rhythm of waking and praying, of mid day silence, calming myself in your word of truth, of night time and stillness before you. Make my heart beat with Yours. You are knocking on my heart, God, getting my attention. But so much shame drowns me and I’m scared to answer because my trespasses are many, and Satan keeps yelling it’s too late. But I'm Yours, God, and Your desire is to drown me in your love and forgiveness. You bought me when I was a slave to sin. There is nothing I can hide from you, or show you that You haven’t already seen or known about me. The truth of my decisions are disgusting and filthy. Clear out the lies that pile up, the names that have been a label. My heart holds hurt, would you remove that wound so I can fully receive love from the people You have given me. My heart is rebellious and strong willed, impatient, and angry teach me your ways and prune out the world. Pull up the dead weeds of people of the past.

My heart loves so many who don’t know You as Savior, who have even refused you, who have grown cold towards you. I trust you with my loved ones and their hearts, God. Please keep knocking and whispering to them.
You are the only one who can make any of us new. You can make a sad heart laugh again, an anxious heart trust again, a broken heart whole, an angry heart joyful. You hold the balm of healing, and give it to us to apply to others lives, that is the deepest of loves. We aren’t wounded forever but are being made new day by day in mercies forever.
Oh let us not harden our hearts when we see you work and you ask us to obey or do something for your Kingdom. Let us not harden our hearts towards people you love and are fighting to save and set free. Dwell in us and fill us with your love and grace so we love and give grace to others as you. Use us to set captives free in this world by your word and truth. You have put light in our hearts by Your Spirit and your Word, to guide those in darkness to your marvelous life, and tell them, “The promise is to you and to your children!”
Renew my heart, and keep Your Word hidden in it so I may not sin against You or my brothers or sisters, mothers or fathers. We thank you giver and healer of all good things, to the praise of Your glory and Kingdom. Amen.
