The Sovereign God who Reigns to Redeem

Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the Earth and everything in them. You have power over it all, from the largest planet to the speck of dust. Galaxies and vastness of unknowns. Yet you see me God. Your creation, and one that carries your breath and image. I can’t hide from you, your eyes search the earth looking for those whose hearts are committed to you that you may strengthen them. Everything feels chaotic right now like we’re flying out of control in the world and our lives. Our health fails and our children need attention; our families need help, and our jobs stretch our stress levels with demands and challenges. Countries war with each other. Remind us of the blessings, and that you are the one who sustains us in what you have allowed us to face. Help us to fix our attention on the joy of your saving grace and presence with us. You are in control ordering my steps to walk worthy according to your Word. When all my fears, anxieties and worst case scenarios come true, I trust your hand will deliver me and show my eyes the miracles of your hands.

I repent that I continually sin the worst sins. There are idols that distract me, there are temptations that lure me in. Impure thoughts fill my mind. My weak tired body causes me to lose control of everything and become cranky and emotional. I thank you, Jesus that you have authority to forgive sin, and you don’t change! You remain sovereign over my life, steady in love towards me. Thank you that my sin humbles me and reminds me of my need of you. If I could train myself to perfection, I would shun you. But I need you Jesus. On my very best day when I feel like I’m doing all the right things, and on my worst day when I have made every mistake in the book, Your hand still holds me. 

Yours is the Kingdom, and nothing can shake it or bring it down, Yours is the power and glory, Yours is the praise, Yours is the name above all powerful names. Work in our midst, provide for our needs, heal our land, and start with your Church and me. To be people that look to you and do what you tell us to. Not what an influencer or podcast host or singer or news anchor or government spokesperson or official…Speak to us Lord by your Holy Spirit and fill us with your love, grace and wisdom to do your work. We belong to you and pray this in Your name that cleanses and Redeems, Amen.
